Summer Means Swimsuit Season

The sun and sea. Heat and water. Perfect combination. These two definitely go together especially when it's summertime, what else? But they're not complete without the people lazing on the beach, taking a dip in the water or engaging in various water sports in their favorite swimsuits.

Oh yes, it's time to take out that swimsuit when the heat is on. Whether men, women or children, nothing really feels more comfortable than wearing these suits while enjoying the beach. For people with great bodies, wearing these swimsuits all the more shows their best assets.

Various styles

Since its creation, the swimsuit has evolved into numerous types and styles for all genders. Men and women have their own styles while those for the kids are just the smaller versions.

Long ago, it was just plain swimming trunks for the males. It started out as a conservative shorts type using a lycra material. Eventually, it got shorter to become a brief type. Today, though, there are variations such as the thongs, g-strings, bikini, boardshorts and jammers.

Swimsuits for women have gone a long way as well. From the original one-piece suits, different variations have come out in many years. The most common one-piece swimsuit is also known as the tank suit or leotard.

However, there have been several sexier versions of this that includes the thong which features a thong back leaving the buttocks uncovered. There's also the pretzel suit which has straps that encircle the body and the sling or suspender bikini with only side straps that cover just the breasts and a thong back.

But of course, the more carefree women and notably those who have the curves to show prefer the two-piece suits. Undoubtedly, the bikini is the most famous. This itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny bikini bottom comes in thong, g-string or t-back. The tops are of varied styles as well such as the tankini, halter necks, stringbodys, maillots and those with plunging fronts.

Special swimsuits

The newest swimsuits to come out cater to the Muslim women. Many of us know how conservative these women are the reason why Lebanese-Australian designer Aheda Zanetti saw it fit to invent the burqini. This special swimsuit, comprised of a top and pants, covers the whole body and the head but is made of light material to allow for comfortable swimming.

Another special type is known as the competitive swimwear. Swimsuits used in competitions differ in material from those used in regular swimming as they are similar to unitards. For diving, the suits are called diveskins made from spandex. Other types include the briefs, jammers and racerbacks.
