The Big Island

The island of Hawaii is nicknamed the Big Island for two reasons. First of all, because the name of the island is the same as the name of the state, it gets confusing for many so it was simplified by being nicknamed the Big Island. Secondly, the Big Island is almost twice the size of all the other islands combined. Snorkling in this part of Hawaii is considered to be some of the best in the world, and for good reason.

Captain Cook, the Coral Reefs and black sands beaches on the east side of the Island are all great options if you want to snorkel. Specifically, near the town of Hilo is where you'll find the good Hawaii snorkling spots. Some places include Leleiwi Beach Park, Kapoho Tide Pools and Richardson's Beach Park.

On the West side of the Big Island near the town of Kona, you can find other great snorkel spots. The places include Kailua Bay, Spencer Beach Park and Pawai Bay.

But not to be out done by her sister islands, Oahu offers one of the most tourist friendly and beginner friendly snorkling spot in all of Hawaii.

The spot is called Hanauma Bay and is thriving with green sea turtles, tropical fish and other sea life like octopus and even sometimes manta rays. Not to worry, the park is fully staffed with professionals that know everything there is to know about the park and snorkeling. You get to see a short film before you actually snorkel, showing you the basics of keeping the sea life safe while keeping yourself safe at the same time. The spot is excellent for beginners, families and younger people that are interested in snorkling in Hawaii.

Maui

Maui is known for the wonderful weather, fabulous endless beaches and some of the greatest snorkling there is in Hawaii. Don't miss Honolua as the jungle trail you must walk through to get to the snorkel spot is magnificent in its own. Ulua Beach offers snorkling right off the beach, where both swimmers and tropical fish abound. Finally, Kapalua is thought as of one of the best beaches in the world and offers great beginner and family snorkling while on Hawaii vacations.

Kauai

This island may not be as well known as the others, but it's quickly catching up in popularity among the other islands of Hawaii. It's a good thing, because the snorkling here is unrivaled.
