Practical Uses For A Solar Power Battery
A solar power battery is a very useful thing to have around the house. If you like going camping or hiking and need a battery to run certain appliances then a solar power battery might be what you are looking for. There are certain items that are not worth using a solar power battery with.
Large electrical appliances will sap a battery of power before you know it and it will take too much time to recharge. The point of a solar battery is that it allows you to recharge it even when you have no access to an electrical outlet and it can be done again and again.
Combining Power
The charging time can be cumbersome and so you really want to get the maximum hours out of your solar power battery. Buy a battery that has a higher amp value to achieve this. If you cannot afford or find batteries with a higher amp then you can parallel wire together several batteries with the same voltage and amps to increase the amp. This in turn will increase the number of hours the battery has.
You can also increase the volts of your solar power battery by using a series wiring. This will not give you more hours of battery usage but it will give you more power. Whatever is preferable for you and the appliances you are using is the wiring that you should go for. In this case you don't really want to be lugging around multiple batteries so this type of things is a no-no for a hike.
Sealed Gel Cell Batteries
A solar power battery that combines efficient energy use and easy maintenance is the sealed gel cell battery. It doesn't need to be charged too often and in fact charging it too much can shorten the battery life. So if you don't want to bother with maintenance then this is the battery for you. Be warned that it is more expensive than the conventional solar power battery.
Checking on your battery condition can be a tiresome exercise but it is also necessary. When you have paid good money for your battery you want to make sure it stays in good shape for as long as possible. Take readings of your solar power battery with a voltmeter to determine its condition. The readings need to be taken at different times of the day, such as the morning, afternoon and in the evening.
