Ion Paintball Guns
The Ion paintball gun from Smart Parts is one of the most popular starter guns on the market. While the Ion originates as a low cost beginning paintball gun, it is designed to be able to accept a great number of upgrades and modifications that make it not only extremely versatile but can be brought up to the performance quality of even the high end, high priced models on the market.
The Ion can be used with either compressed air or CO2 canisters. With most of the internal parts constructed of aluminum, the Ion is very lightweight and easy to maneuver whatever your playing field. The Ion is designed to fire at 200 psi muzzle pressure. At only two thirds the maximum allowed, the Ion still gives a full range shot but is lower powered as a safety feature to avoid potential damage to your opponent.
Once your Ion paintball gun is tuned in and warmed up you will find that it has a very consistent firing pattern. The Ion can be adjusted to single ball fire, three ball bursts or full automatic which rates at seventeen balls per second. The trigger mechanism is not very adjustable so it is necessary to practice to get the feel of your trigger's pulling action.
There are a few downside characteristics one must take into consideration with the Ion. Internal maintenance is a chore as the Ion is not easy to disassemble. Some of the upgrades available for the Ion paintball gun are difficult to put on and there are occasional problems w
ith changing modes quickly. The recharge time can also drag a bit, especially during long bouts of automatic firing. However, do not let the small problems discourage you from an Ion. With their easy to afford starting price it is a fine model to begin your paintball adventures.
