"The Santa Clause": The Movie

The movie Santa Clause is a story about a divorced father of a little boy who gets to become Santa Claus. The movie basically centers on the transformation of an uncaring, undependable father into the father figure that is Santa Claus. The title of the movie, "The Santa Clause" is derived from the clause that whosoever dons the suit after the demise or the inability of the previous Santa to perform his duties, will automatically become Santa Claus. This clause was written in such fine print in the calling card that appeared at the demise of the previous Santa Claus.

The movie is a heart warming movie about a father who has other priorities other than his son and family but eventually earns the titles of Santa Claus in the end. The movie "The Santa Clause" also delves into the mysticism of the Christmas figure and also strives to explain how the man in red can do so many things in just one night.

The Cast of the Movie

The lead character, Scott Calvin, in the movie "The Santa Clause" is played by Tim Allen. He effectively blends comedy and seriousness into the part and effectively contrives to show the viewers of the blatant opposition he feels regarding his transformation into the real Santa Claus. In the movie, "The Santa Clause" the other cast members are Eric Lloyd, who plays Charlie, the son of Scott Calvin. His ex wife, Laura, is played by Wendy Crewson and Judge Reinhold is cast as her new husband. Other characters in "The Santa Clause" are Bernard, the head elf, effectively played by David Krumholtz and another elf called Judy, portrayed by Paige Tamada.

"The Santa Clause" was well received by viewers worldwide and grossed over $144 million in the United States of America alone during its opening month. It also got over $189 million upon its worldwide review. "The Santa Clause" movie is often being shown during the holiday season and there have been two sequels which also did rather well at the time of their opening.

The popularity of such movies is due mainly to its seasonal appeal where people feel the happiness of the season and wish to watch movies of a related genre. "The Santa Clause" is a very well received movie along with the two other sequels because the whole family can watch it.
