Cleaning Walls
One of the banes of every parent’s life, is when their young child discovers the joys of writing, or in this case, scribbling and drawing. Many a toddler has got a firm bee in their bonnet that they are in fact one of the great masters, and that your blank walls are their own personal canvas on which they can draw. And this is where you will need to become adept at cleaning walls.
This perforce, includes not only removal of pencil marks but also of marker pens, ballpoint pens, fountain pens, crayons, chalk, permanent marker, well, you get the idea right? Whatever your Monet can find be assured that they will use it, and use it well.
You will need to become the master at cleaning walls, and you will need to become a master at keeping your temper in check when that nice and newly cleaned wall, becomes the subject of your Michelangelo’s inspirations!
If you’re new to the game however, and have no idea how to go about cleaning walls, then you can find inspiration in the many trials and tribulations of other parents who have gone through the same thing that you have.
Some very good, and tried and tested, ideas for cleaning walls free of drawings includes the use of an eraser to take out not only pencil drawings but also those of colored pencils. This can become somewhat tedious if your young Da Vinci has managed to cover an expansive area.
You could try using cleaning detergents to get that permanent marker off, but in some cases you will need to use industrial strength detergents. Then again, you have the choice of using some good old elbow grease and scrubbing detergent to get away those paintings.
Since none of these are fool proof methods for cleaning walls spotlessly clean and shiny new, you might also want to invest in a small can of paint, the same color as your walls, with which you can cover some of the residue of your Rembrandt’s drawings.
Of course, all of these good ideas notwithstanding, one of the easiest methods for you to go about your task of cleaning walls free of your budding artist’s drawings, is to either repaint your entire house, or better yet relocate entirely to a new house!
Oh, and whatever you do, hold off on that trip to Italy until your kids are more grown up – otherwise when they see all the lovely works of art gracing the walls and the ceilings all over Italy, you might find that your task of cleaning walls just became that much harder when you get back home!
