Peaches And Herb: All-Time Great Disco Music
Everyone that have heard at least one song sung by Peaches And Herb will have been greatly been impressed by them, who though often billed as being a duo are more like a group because of the amount of member rotation that goes on with them, except of course, for Herb who is a constant factor with Peaches And Herb. The other part of the ‘duo' was Peaches who was actually the late Francine Hurd Barker who died a couple of years back, and got her nickname Peaches because she was very genteel in her manner.
Number Of Hits
The first hit song sung by Peaches And Herbs was "Let's Fall In Love" that was the flip side of the single that also had "We're In This Thing Together" and was played by accident when "We're In This Thing Together" did not get much of a response. Thus, "Let's Fall In Love" gave Peaches And Herb their first top 100 hit in the year 1967, and in the same year they came out with three further hits that were "Close Your Eyes", "For Your Love", and "Love Is Strange", which were then followed by two albums "Let's Fall In Love" and "For Your Love", and they soon earned the nickname of The Sweethearts of Soul.
Soon, Peaches And Herb was to get a new member because the original Peaches up and left and was replaced with Marlene Mack, though this change did not affect the popularity of Peaches And Herb who then came up with some more hits such as "Two Little Kids", "When He Touches Me (Nothing Else Matters)," and "It's Just A Game, Love".
Still later, there was another change and an old friend of Herb who was also a songwriter and producer and who went by the name of Freddie Perren signed Peaches And Herb and got them a deal with Polydor Records and once again the duo came up with hits such as "2 Hot" which was an album and another single called "Shake Your Groove Thing" became their biggest hit till date, and went as high as number five in the Hot 100 in March, 1979.
As time rolled by, Peaches And Herb got new Peaches and this time it was Patrice Hawthorne and this brought out some more exciting sounds from the duo that combined signature duet ballads with compelling and hot dance songs with some groove as well. That is why Peaches And Herb is a duet that will long be remembered for their great disco music.
