Home Schooling A 7th Grader The Correct Way
You have a 7th grader and you want to home school him or her. There are a few things you need to consider first. If you're pulling your 7th grader out of school and you're suddenly home schooling him or her, make sure you keep up with the same pace as he or she was going through in school. Also, make sure you don't go too fast and make sure he or she is still interested in learning at home. There are many ways to go about home schooling a 7th grader but you should try to handle the situation as delicately as possible so as to keep the student interested in learning.
No Social Interaction
The one major difference in home schooling a 7th grader is that he or she will no longer have the social interaction with the other students. This can actually be a good thing. For one, there won't be any of that negative peer pressure than can affect students in an actual school. Another good thing about home schooling a 7th grader is that your child will get the private tutoring and special help he or she needs. In a classroom full of students, it is easy for a student to fall behind and sometimes the teacher doesn't notice. With home schooling a 7th grader, there's no chance of this.
A Drastic Change
Home schooling a 7th grader after your child has been in an actual school is a drastic change and should be handled with care. Don't rush the child and make sure you positively reinforce any accomplishments and handle delicately any failures. You can even issue report cards to let your child know how he or she is doing. Your child can get a better education through home schooling but you must work hard to make sure your child is learning.
You can keep the current curriculum your 7th grader was going through in school or you can create your own. That's the beauty of home schooling a 7th grader. You can do whatever you want and your child will only learn what you want him or her to. You must take care not to go too fast or too slow because your child could become frustrated or bored. Talk to your child often about the lessons and give him or her tests to make sure he or she is absorbing the material.
With hard work and dedication, your home schooled 7th grader will get a great education and could possibly end up knowing more than all the other students who were taught in normal classrooms.
