Impotence Guide

Anxiety and Impotence

Anxiety is a major cause of impotence in both young and middle aged men, as well as older men.

Young men or adolescents tend to suffer from anxiety due to the fact that they may be nervous about their first sexual experiences. This is due to both inexperience and excitement of the situation.

Unfortunately this excitement can have a negative effect, that is of the male not being able to get or sustain an erection long enough to please both he and his partner.

If a man is overly concerned about his sexual performance he is likely to have a fear of failure due to self doubt and nervousness. This can lead to severe anxiety and ultimately, impotence.

So how can a man overcome anxiety and impotence caused by anxiety?

Relaxation exercises

I don’t mean meditation (although do that if you can) but just some deep breathing everyday to relax yourself and particularly before sexual activity if you have a chance. Tell yourself that there is nothing to be anxious about and you can do it.

Talk to your partner

If you are with a person for the first time it may be difficult to speak intimately with them, but if you are comfortable with your partner then tell them that you are a little nervous and your partner can do things to relax you. Massages work a treat!

Anxiety and impotence is a common occurrence. If you feel it is impacting your sex life severely, please see a therapist.
