Impotence in Young Men

Impotence is often only though of affecting older men, however it is quite common place in young men too. Impotence in young men can be very stressful and it can also become a downward spiral due to the fact that one bad experience can lead to a huge amount of self doubt and anxiety, which will obviously result in more serious episodes of impotence after each negative experience.

Teenagers and adolescents may be anxious about sex for a number of reasons including:

  • Not wanting to wear a condom
  • Not wanting to cause pregnancy
  • Inexperience
  • Bad past experiences
  • Rushed situations
  • Fear of being caught, ie in parents home

Most males will develop impotence at some point in their life. But in the majority of cases it is a one off occurrence, not a long term one. When impotence occurs over the long term it is deemed a problem and this is when professional advice and testing is required.

Impotence in young men can cause further problems with self esteem and relationships.

The options for impotence treatment in young men are usually not to take strong prescription drugs. An alternative is a herbal remedy as these are gentler and do not cause side effects. A young male is also highly unlikely to want to take Viagra as they consider to be an older mans drug.

Impotence in young men generally disappears as they gain experience and confidence in sexual situations and is very rarely caused by a serious physical problem.
