Impotence Guide

Psychological Impotence

Overcoming psychological is a challenge for many men. Psychological impotency occurs often due to past negative sexual experiences or failures and this in turn causes a male to have a fear of failure in his future sexual encounters. Overcoming this fear of failure is the first step towards a cure for psychological impotence.

Psychological causes of impotence

Psychological causes of impotence can include a variety of factors such as:

  • - Fear of pregnancy
  • - Fear of STD's
  • - Dislike for using condoms
  • - Fear of being caught
  • - Performance anxiety

There are also many other impotence psychological causes however these are some of the most popular.

There are also external factors not relating to sex which can cause psychological erection difficulties including:

  • - Stress
  • - Depression
  • - Financial difficulties
  • - Work related problems
  • - Relationship issues
  • - Low self esteem

Impotence is when a man can not achieve or maintain an erection of a sufficient time to please himself and his partner.

The brain is a very important factor in gaining an erection. Put simply, if the brain is not turned on, neither wills the body be. This causes the penis to malfunction by not having a ready supply of blood to cause an erection.

Whilst psychological impotence is common, thankfully it is easily overcome either through therapy or self training. Therapy is advised if it is relationship problems causing the impotence as the problem will need to be discussed as a couple rather than just with the male.

Low self esteem and other life issues causing sexual problems can also be overcome with open communication between partners and a positive, supportive environment.
