When Talking About the Sizes of Kidney Stones
Kidney stones are not exactly favorable things which people look for when they have their annual physical check ups, as their building up in people's bodies tend to boast problems, which are sure to lead to painful experiences, even ones which are quite life threatening.
Having said this, kidney stones are basically no joking matter.
Referred to a Renal calculi, kidney stones are basically crystal aggregations, or solid concentrations of materials, which can be found in the urine. They are generally typical formations, which exits the body though the body's urinary system. It is when these materials come into clogging the urine's pathway where kidney stone problems come in, which should be enough cause for great concern. When talking about unfitting kidney stone conditions, two terms are commonly used; Urolithiasis and Nephrolithiasis. Urolithiasis is the term used when talking about kidney stones in the urinary tract, while Nephrolithiasis refers to the kidney stones built up in the kidneys.
The sizes of kidney stones vary from one to another, with some smaller than grains of sand, while there are others as large as a grapefruit. It is when the sizes of kidney stones get bigger when problems occur, as the bigger the sizes of kidney stones, the more the chances of one's urinary system getting more complicated, caused by "clogging". Basically there is no "size limit" which defines the sizes of kidney stones, limiting its "danger aspect". Once the sizes of kidney stones reach to a minimum of 2 to 3 millimeters, these sizes of kidney stones are sure to bring about problems for those with kidney stone build ups, which would result to the distention of urine, which could then result to a rather painful condition known as Renal Colic.
The Symptoms of Renal Colic includes pain in the flank, lower abdomen and the groin area, along with cases of nausea and vomiting. The embryological connection between the urinary system and the intestinal tract, is known to be the causing factor for the vomiting and nausea.
There are different types of kidneys stones, regardless of the sizes of kidney stones. There is the Calcium Oxalate Crystals, the Uric Acid, Struvite, calcium phosphate and the cystine types of kidney stones.
Indeed kidney stones are no joking matter, and should be one thing people should know about, as early as possible.
