With Lawn Care Mushrooms Present A Real Challenge

One of the most distressing parts of having a beautiful lawn is to see mushrooms poking their heads up above the grass. As a time consuming and labor intensive part of lawn care, mushrooms grow in area that supply them the best food supply. Old animal waste, rotting tree stumps and roots and just about anywhere else the yard fungus can get a free meal. While there are chemicals on the market that kills the mushrooms when you see them chances are the spores have already been cast and it can seem like a never-ending process.

When it comes to appropriate lawn care mushrooms can be eradicated only by removing their food source. Digging out the old roots or grinding up the old tree stumps will remove their food and they will either head off to less greener pastures or simply wither away. Many homeowners attempt to lop them off above ground when they appear but with thousand of new spores under the cap, chances are they are merely spreading the new seeds around the area.

Like the chemicals used in lawn care mushrooms only die when directly hit by the chemicals. The released spores are already on their way to growing through the lawn and will merely replace those the chemicals have killed. Digging them out is also not always successful as the spores will be shaken free from the action and begin growing somewhere else.

Creating Separate Growing Area

If during rigid lawn care mushrooms continue too grow in one specific area, try creating a separate are from the lawn and let them go. Place a few concrete lawn decorations around them and tell visitors how tough it is to get them to grow in one place. The mushrooms will still be there, but at least they will look like they belong.

With other methods of lawn care mushrooms like sunshine and may not fare well in the shade. If possible, plant small shrubs around an area prone to mushroom growth or add lawn decorations that shade the area to prevent the mushrooms from having access to sunlight.

Despite your best efforts at lawn care mushrooms may still probably establish a growing area. Unless you can positively identify them, do not look at them as a source of steak condiments as many mushrooms may appear harmless but will be poisonous. To use proper lawn care mushrooms' eradication will depend on the removal of all food for them and a shady environment.
