Creative people wanting to follow their passion for a creative career can attend the Art Institute California and join a degree or diploma program. The college opened in 1997 and it is situated in Santa Monica. The campus has the best facilities on offer, including an impressive motion capture studio. The curriculum enables students to gain an entry into the entertainment, design or hospitality industries.

Courses include Graphic Design, Interior Design and Game Art and Design. Media programs include Media Arts and Animation, Motion Picture and Television Production and Audio Production and Digital Video Production. All these courses keep up to date with the latest equipment and needs of the market place in very competitive careers. Budding entrepreneur chefs come here too, on Culinary Arts and Culinary Management programs. Bistro 31 is the campus restaurant that is staffed by students.

In addition to full time courses, the Graphic Design and Interior Design degree programs offer evening and weekend classes. Students may enroll at the Art Institute California in January, April, July or October. Interested candidates are welcome to visit the campus and have a personal interview but a phone interview is acceptable. They are also required to submit two short essays. International students contribute to the life of the college. Their admission is on condition of a competent level of speaking English.

Financial aid is available for those eligible, in the form of scholarships and grants that do not have to be repaid. Loans too are offered to meet the cost of tuition fees etc. The Art Institute California gives pastoral support as well as academic guidance to its students and there are counselors to answer questions or if any problems arise. Graduates are supported too and they receive help from employment advisors. There is also a thriving community of alumni.

The social side of college life is encouraged and there are various clubs and societies, bringing like-minded people together. BAMF is for comic book fans; The Culinary Club is for the culinary students and the Flash Animation Club work on animation projects. Hui 'O Hawaii celebrates Hawaiian culture and the Star Wars Club welcomes fans who like to swap merchandise and discuss the movies. There are also clubs for yoga, anime and PC gaming at the Art Institute California. The Students Activities Council organizes events and the Presidents Club acts as a liaison between the staff, faculties and students.
