The Growing Field of PSP Repair

When the PSP first came out the only way you could get PSP repair was to send your unit back to Sony and wait until it was repaired and sent back to you. Sony has in place a very extensive network of repair depots all over the world but the new technology of the PSP meant that effective PSP repair could only be done by Sony itself even if it was not very timely.

So PSP owners would send their PSP back to the Sony location closest to them and wait for their PSP repair to be done. It was a long process and while it is still in effect today there are alternatives to getting PSP repair that do not involve waiting weeks for Sony to repair your device. However, you may want to remember that in some cases replacing your PSP may be a more cost effective alternative than PSP repair. The PSP is an electronic device and any PSP repair is going to be pretty expensive.

The internet is a great place to get information on PSP repair that does not involve Sony but remember that in many cases if you go with one of the non-Sony alternatives you are probably going to void your warranty. The best thing to do as the first step of PSP repair is to contact Sony and discuss the issue with them. Sony will let you know if your unit is still under warranty and what steps you need to take in order to get your repairs done for free under warranty from Sony. If your unit is not under warranty than you may as well proceed to the next step which is looking on the internet to see what your options are.

Surfing the Web for More Information

There are a lot of websites springing up on the internet that deal with PSP repair and one type of website for PSP repair is the do it yourself repair website. These websites usually offer a lot of technical advice and step by step repair procedures for many of the common issues that come up with the PSP. If you have questions then most of these do it yourself sites have either a feedback page where you can ask a technician questions or a message board where you can interact with other PSP owners. Most times these sites will also sell you the parts you need to do your repairs. This is a good option for people that feel confident enough to do it themselves.

If warranty is not an option then there are plenty of companies on the internet that will repair your PSP for a price. Just be careful when you are talking to online repair companies and make sure you choose one with a good reputation. In the end you may have to buy a new PSP but you certainly do not want it to be because of the choice you made for a repair shop.
