Table tennis is usually played indoors, and rarely outdoors. But the fact that it is played outdoors is something that's surprising to a lot of people. This is because in the game of table tennis, it is important to control certain natural elements, the wind, for instance. Thus, it is a bit hard to imagine that outdoor table tennis does exist.
So, when can one play outdoor table tennis? The summer season is actually the ideal time to play the outdoor version. The summer weather is the perfect answer to the game's need for a controlled environment. What's more, playing outdoor table tennis during summer would mean the player won't have to be cooped up inside a room. Imagine playing a game in a hot room during the summer season!
Of course, there are certain things to remember when choosing a table for outdoor table tennis. For starters, it would be better to get a table that comes with wheels. Since you will be moving the table from one location to another, then it would be more convenient to get a rolling ping pong table. This way, you will not have to flex your muscles every time you feel like playing outdoor table tennis from one location to another.
When choosing a spot for outdoor table tennis, you should also remember the surface on which the table will be set. A good game of outdoor table tennis can be played on concrete surfaces, but never on grass. The lawn or the yard just might appear inviting when playing outdoor table tennis, but this is not a surface that is recommended at all. This is mainly because grass is uneven, and this can disrupt a game of outdoor table tennis significantly.
But when you are not playing the game, the table should not be left in the humid atmosphere of summer. Doing this would actually degrade the table faster. Thus, the table should be covered and stored away from the hot and humid atmosphere of summer. An effective way to do this would be to purchase a tarp cover for the table. This way, your ping pong table would be well-protected when you and your friends are not playing outdoor table tennis.
Finally, remember that summer is indeed a time for frolicking in the outdoors. Thus, it would be so much better to just play outdoor table tennis, instead of indoors so that you and your friends will also get into that summer mood.
