South Dakota is most famous for its infamous mountain-side sculpture known as Mount Rushmore. This beautiful granite masterpiece was sculpted by Gutzon Borglum, his project began in 1927, took 14 years to finish, and cost about one million dollars. Millions of people every year come from all over to gaze upon this mountain-side masterpiece.
On the other hand, the Crazy Horse Memorial is also in South Dakota. This sculpture is a work-in-progress but when finished Chief Crazy Horse will stand 641 feet long and 563 feet high. Another fun place in South Dakota is its intricate cave system known as the Black Hills Caves. These systems of caves display some of the rarest and most intriguing formations of any cave system. The tourism of South Dakota also offers a unique experience through scenic byways. This paved car paths take through wilderness and some of the most breathtaking scenery.
