Planning a Baby Shower for a Boy

When planning a shower for a baby boy, a lot needs to go into the preparations. In order to make the day very special for the mommy to be, some commitment from friends and a collaborative effort is necessary.

Simply ask the new mother to register at her favorite store, and ask her to sit back and relax. Then all that's left is planning the perfect baby shower for her little boy!

Step 1

Although there is not much to this step, it is important to make sure a date and time for the baby shower is set.

Step 2

The first thing you will want to do is make a list of who will be invited to the baby boy shower. The most effective way to do this is to ask the new mother for a list of friends she'd like to see attend.

In addition, make sure you have the names and numbers of all family members that need to be invited.

Step 3

The next step in planning the baby boy's shower is to choose a theme and colors. Colors such as yellow, blue, green and orange are great choices. In order to make sure the party is not too busy, choose no more than 2 colors to use.

As for the theme of the baby shower, prints of baby boys on banners and table cloths are a popular choice. Sticking with solid colors is a good choice as well, and some sort of congratulations messages should be displayed somewhere throughout the party.

Step 4

Come up with some party favors. Choose something that means a lot to the mom to be and re-create it somehow. Craft stores are great places to visit in order to find unique items such as paper, small baby trinkets and candy among plenty of other things!

A great idea for making party favors for a boy's baby shower is to get a big sheet of see-through material from a fabric store. Cut the sheet into small 4" by 4" squares and then put a small handful of baby blue mint candies in the middle of each square. Using a very thin white ribbon, pull the edges of the square together and secure it so that it makes a sack. Purchase tiny storks and hang the candy from the stork!

Step 5

Make sure to account for any children who will be attending the baby boy's shower, and try to hire a babysitter or get the teenagers at the party to babysit the younger children.

This doesn't necessarily have to be away from the party, but the kids could play outside for example while the new mom opens gifts. This is a great way to make sure everyone at the party has fun.

You will also want to plan party games, both for adults and for the children. Pin the tail on the donkey is an old classic, and for the adults a good old game of truth or dare can be a blast. Trivia games are also popular.

Step 6

The final step in planning a baby shower for a boy is to plan the food arrangements and the cake. You will want to make arrangements for supplying juice (for the kids and expectant mommies), soda and bottled water. It's important to remember that the mom to be can't drink alcohol, so it's probably not a good idea to supply any alcohol at all.

As for food, keep it simple. Of course an important part of the party is to keep everyone fed, but it doesn't have to be a formal affair.

Have the hubby of mom to be fire up the grill for some hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers and grilled pineapple. Serve some salad, corn on the cob and chips with salsa for lunch. After lunch comes the cake, don't forget to choose something that suits a baby boy's shower. For the total party theme package, make sure the cake colors match those of the rest of the theme.
