Unique Baby Shower Centerpieces
If you're in charge of the decorations at the upcoming baby shower, then we've got some ideas for you for the perfect unique baby shower centerpieces. These centerpieces will not only look quite lovely at the centers of your tables, but will also be quite useful to the mother-to-be, as she can take them home and use them after the baby arrives. Each of the following baby shower centerpieces is easy and affordable to make, yet will bring memories that will last a lifetime.
The Baby Shower Topiary
Topiaries are those funny little trees we've all seen at one time or another. They generally look like two or three balls of greenery on a stick. To make these baby shower centerpieces we're going to put a twist on those old-fashioned topiaries, and create them out of things the new mother can use once the baby is born.
The first thing you will need to create these baby shower centerpieces are enough clay pots for each table at your shower. Just plain terra cotta flower pots will do. Paint each of the pots in either pastel pink or blue, and fill with florists foam. Into that florists foam, you need to stick a one-inch dowel, right into the center.
The next step to creating these baby shower centerpieces is to create the "shrub" out of diapers around the upper third of the dowel. Do this by wrapping several diapers around the pole, and securing with ribbon after so many layers. You can create the ball effect by attaching three rows of diapers, one on top of the other, with the top and bottom rows having a few less diapers wrapped around than the center layer. The top of the diaper "ball" should end a few inches below the top end of the dowel.
Once you have attached the diapers, and are pleased with the effect, tie a large, pastel fabric bow at the top and bottom of the diaper ball - directly to the dowel itself. This is what gives your baby shower centerpieces the topiary look. You can also garnish the centerpiece further by embellishing with metallic ribbons, and tying on different assorted baby items, such as pacifiers, plastic keys, and teething rings.
These baby shower center pieces make excellent conversation pieces; and at the end of the shower, the dowels and foam can be discarded, while the new mother takes the diapers and flower pots home. Try these baby shower centerpieces at your shower, and watch the expectant mother's eyes light up when she sees all of the wonderful diapers that she will be able to use when her new child arrives!
