Goth Makeup Is Rarely Used In Beauty Pageants
There are all kinds of makeup tips and styles. One of the most eccentric makeup techniques is the goth makeup. Unless there is a themed goth fashion show, you will never see goth makeup used in beauty pageants. Goth makeup is reserved for people who enjoy looking gothic. A goth can be a male or a female and when in full makeup regalia, it is sometimes hard to distinguish between man and woman. But these people are trying to make a statement; what this statement is has become quite a topic of discussion. They ultimately want to stand out in a crowd and look as depressed and scary as they possibly can.
The Makeup
The makeup used in goth makeup is really quite simple. It is black, blue and white, but mainly it is black. Goths like to paint their faces white and use a lot of black eyeliner around the eyes and eyebrows. They sometimes have black lips and sometimes they have blue lips. Their goth makeup matches their dress of black on black. Sometimes capes and hoods accompany the goth look as well. But the makeup they use is inexpensive because it only consists of three different pieces of makeup. They probably spend more on makeup remover because the colors they have chosen are more difficult to remove because they have applied them so heavily.
Gothic
The need to appear gothic and express their individuality comes from the Gothic period in history where people were mysterious and crazy. The Gothic period in history was a dark time for mankind with plagues suffering around the world. The people of that time period wore black capes and hats or hoods. It was an ugly time in history. The goth makeup that kids wear today reflects the depression that they must be suffering in some way. They are frightening to look at and emit feelings of loneliness and self-doubt. The goths feel different than the rest of us, or so they say. People are alike in that they are different. It's this concept that the goths don't seem to understand. Being an individual means being yourself. There is more respect for people who are individuals then people who have to be part of a dark group because they don't seem to fit into the world. The world is a big place and it has room for everyone. But if goth makeup and goth clothing give these depressed and unhappy individuals some pleasure in life, then so be it.
