Orchids are one of the largest and most diverse species of flowering plants. The orchid plants are admired by many and have found even greater popularity in recent years. All though most people think of the orchid plants of tropical places such as the Islands of Hawaii, the plants do grown all over the world including the European and North American continents. The vast number of orchids in the world is, as one would expect, overruled by the more popular species which people admire and choose to grow in their homes.
Cymbidium Orchid Plants
Cymbidiums are beautiful voluptuous plants that grow to between three and four feet. When these orchid plants are well cared for they will have beautiful annual blooms in a variety of colors including yellow, green, burgundy, white and pink. The orchid plants will hold their blooms for a lengthy time if kept moist and in a moderately cool temperature. Sometimes blooms will last up to one or two months providing a beautiful sight for all who have the opportunity to view them. These hardy blooms are also great for bouquets and corsages. Phalaenosis Orchid Plants
Many people prefer the stunning flowers of the Phalaenosis or the Multiflora Phalaenosis for their simple beauty and classic purple, pink and white colors. These orchid plants offer a very long lasting bloom that will continue to charm for two months or more. The spikes of the Multiflora Phalaenosis hold smaller flowers but more that compensate for the size by often having two dozen or more blooms on each spike. Whether a person chooses the standard Phalaenosis or the Multiflora Phalaenosis for their home they are sure to be delighted with the beauty.
Oncidium Orchid Plants
The Oncidium orchid plants are also known as dancing ladies because the lovely bloom looks much like a dancing lady in all her regal clothing. These plants come in a variety of colors with combinations that make each orchid plant beautifully unique. These plants come as small ¾ inch blooms up to about 1 ½ inches and will have multiple flowers on each stem. They have a reputation of lasting six weeks or more when kept in a warm, sunny spot. These plants are nice when grown in a grouping of several plants so that their will be several blooming spikes to increase the dancing delight.
