Kitchen Faucets Can Provide Subtle Statement
There are a couple of quick changes that can be made in the kitchen to update its look including resurfacing the cabinet doors, countertops and the kitchen faucets. Many times the fixtures in the kitchen are considered an after thought but the reality is they can draw attention to the sink area and if the rest of the kitchen is immaculate, old fashioned or otherwise dreary kitchen faucets will detract from the overall appearance.
While changing out the kitchen faucets may seem like quite a chore, it is really not difficult if the only thing being changed is the visible handle and not the valve stem assembly. Typically, there will be a small cap cover a screw that can quickly be popped out. The screw is removed and the faucet handle lifts off and in many instances, a new handle can be placed over the old stem, creating an instant new look to the kitchen faucets.
If there is a need to replace the sink, it is the idea time to also replace the kitchen faucets to give the kitchen a more updated look. A modern looking fixture can be found that matches and may also have a matching handle for a hose attachment as well.
Faucets Designed To Upgrade Appearance
When remodeling the kitchen one of the main items usually upgraded are kitchen faucets and they are available in a multitude of styles and colors. Chrome, brass, brushed aluminum and gold are some of the favorite colors and there is also no need to keep that old two-handle system. With larger spigots and ball handle designs, single lever kitchen faucets can turn an old-fashioned design into a new, update look at the sink.
Nearly everyone can use a pull out hose sprayer on their kitchen faucets and some of the newer designs incorporate them into the water nozzle, requiring only one hole to be drilled through the new countertop. The water feed lines connect under the counter and hose is made as part of the faucet, requiring less room under the counter. This can leave more room for that new garbage disposal many homeowners want and need as part of the installation for a new dishwasher.
The best part of installing new kitchen faucets is that most homeowners are capable of performing the installation on their own. If the water lines do not already have an isolated shutoff valve, when the kitchen faucets are changed is a good time to install them as well.
