Reconditioned power tools have become popular money-saving buys with people who may not have the money to pay full price for a brand new model. A tool that is a reconditioned model is one that for some reason or another was returned to the manufacturer. Brand new tools are not individually tested but rather one or two in a large lot are but with returned tools for reconditioning, each one is thoroughly inspected for defects and other issues. For this inspection reason, most reconditioned power tools never cause problems for their owners, often lasting for years longer than brand new tools purchased at retail. The one thing you should expect with tools that have been reconditioned is that they are likely not going to be resold in original packaging.
