A Guide to Resetting Wireless Routers
The process of resetting wireless routers is one that is really quite simple but which can seem incredibly complex, especially to the computer novice. If you are interested in learning about resetting wireless routers, know that there are a few easy steps that you can follow.
The First Step
The first step for resetting wireless routers involves you trying the default password just in case, because something may have happened whether you remember it or not, where the password was changed and reset to the default password.
If this does not work then you will have to move on, and reset the router in order to return it to its original factory settings.
It is important before you get started that you check the owner's manual or at least read up and become more researched on the particular router that you have, because the reset instructions vary sometimes from one model to another.
The basics of resetting wireless routers tend to remain the same from one router to another however, and the first thing that you will need to do is to turn the router upside down and take a look at the bottom. There should be a button which will most likely be the size of a pinhole. There should be the word ‘reset' listed somewhere near the button, but it will be the only button that looks like a pinhole on the entire bottom of the router.
You want to take a paperclip or similar object that is small enough to poke into the reset hole, and you want to press down on this button. Hold it down for about ten seconds, when you will see the light on the front of the router stop blinking. This will completely reset the router and you should be good to go again.
If you do experience problems even after this, the best thing that you can probably do at this point is contact the manufacturer of the router. You can explain the situation to them and they should be able to determine what is wrong and how to fix it.
Try to keep the owner's manual whenever you purchase something like a router, but remember that you still have options even when you don't.
Although resetting wireless routers may seem a bit confusing or intimidating at first, with these helpful tips you should have learned how to do it and we well on your way to solving your wireless reset problems.
