Most of us suffer from rare anxiety attacks. In most cases, these anxiety attacks happen when we are stressed out. According to experts, rare anxiety attacks should not be a cause for alarm but when the attack happens several times during the day, one should consult a doctor immediately.
If you are one of those people who are living with partners who are prone to panic, you should learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of this disorder and help your partner deal with the situation. Always remember that getting medical help is not the only thing that can help your partner function normally. Your support and understanding will greatly help your partner deal with anxiety attacks.
Physical Symptoms of Anxiety
Most people who are suffering from anxiety disorder display physical signs and symptoms of the disorder. These physical signs and symptoms of anxiety attacks occur when the body re-directs oxygen rich blood and adrenaline into the muscles in preparation for action. These symptoms of anxiety are often referred to as the "flee or fight" symptoms.
In most cases, the physical symptoms range from faster breathing, faster heart beat, shakiness, hyper-activity and irritability. If your partner suddenly displays these symptoms, the best thing to do is to help him or her calm down by diverting his or her attention. Talk to your partner calmly. Do not reprimand your partner or tell him or her to get a grip of his/her self.
People who are suffering from this kind of disorder have difficult controlling their fears and anxieties so be patient with them. These people do not really want to feel or act the way they do so instead of admonishing them, help them by diverting their attention away from the things that triggered their anxiety.
Although some people display the flee or fight symptoms, some express their anxiety in other ways. Some people become tearful and incoherent when they feel anxious about something while others feel the need to go to the bathroom every few minutes. If your partner suddenly feels overly anxious about something and she or he starts crying, do not leave him or her on her own.
People who are in this state of mind should not be trusted to be on their own. Although most people do not really commit something stupid during this stage, some people often feel so depressed at times that they become suicidal. To prevent any untoward incidents and to show support to your partner, stay with him or her when she suffers from anxiety attacks.
