Home Security Signs Alone Cannot Stop Break-Ins

Many burglar alarm companies receive constant requests from people wanting to buy their home security signs as a deterrent without actually installing an alarm system. They place the decals on windows of their home and car, as well as larger signs in the yard, hoping that would-be intruders will not be willing to take the chance that might have an alarm system. However, burglars that are more aggressive are not going to let a few home security signs get in the way of potential riches and additional steps will need to be taken to insure against loss from theft.

Home security signs are not the only things that make potential intruders reluctant to enter a residence or a business, and there are some precautions that can be taken that can work even without using home security signs. Making sure all windows and doors are visible from the street and not hidden behind shrubs and trees will make many burglars turn to another target and good lighting around possible entry points can make burglars think twice about being caught.

In many cases, home security signs serve a great purpose in keeping honest people from trying their first break-in. Despite their initial intentions to enter someone's home, without knowing what the prize might be, they will not take the chance in playing the game.

Signs Warn Of Possible Protection

Unless the homeowner requests otherwise, when a company installs an alarm system home security signs are also placed strategically on the outside of the premises to warn potential intruders of the presence of an alarm system. The signs may also indicate if it is a silent alarm that notifies authorities or a local alarm and they will almost always indicate if cameras are in use to catch them in the act.

If a homeowner does not believe that simply having home security, signs will prevent break-in companies also sell camera housings, without the cameras, to make passers-by think security cameras are also in use. These fake camera housings will need to have wiring that appears to enter the home to complete the charade. A large siren mounted on the exterior of a home that also has home security signs can make many would-be burglars think twice about entering uninvited.

While home security signs may keep out new or occasional burglars, thieves with more experience will know what to look for to determine if the home is actually alarmed or only pretending. By offering sights that many recognize as potential trouble, all but the most desperate thieves may end up looking elsewhere for their next target.
