The Different Types Of Home Security Alarms

There are many different types of home security alarms out there and many different types of systems. The basic principle behind even the most elaborate home security alarms systems is that they detect motion or they are triggered by an interrupted current. The more basic home security alarms are simply two sensors creating a circuit and if that circuit is disrupted then the alarm sounds. That is why criminals prefer to cut through home windows rather than break down doors. Nothing makes a homeowner more frustrated than investing in one of those several thousand dollar home security alarms and then having the whole thing bypassed by a three dollar glass cutter. But if you are not willing to invest in a complete system then that can happen.

One of the more difficult to predict home security alarms is the motion detecting alarms. Once these home security alarms are armed they will go off at the slightest motion within the scope of the alarm. These are okay for indoor alarms unless you own pets in which case they will setting these alarms off constantly. Don't even think about motion sensors for out doors as anything blowing by them sets them off. For home security alarms motion sensing alarms are best for rooms and buildings that are supposed to be empty and they are best installed indoors. If you know the inside of a room or building is supposed to be empty the motion sensors are great because they can detect movement anywhere in the perimeter and that is much more effective than contact alarms.

Effective But Cheap

Sometimes you do not need to spend a lot of money to get a decent security system. You can go to your local department store and purchase these small indicator systems that work on the contact system and they are usually less than ten dollars. The way they work is that you install one side on door or window and then the other side on the frame. If the contacts are moved when it is armed then a loud alarm sounds. It may not contact the police for you but you can put one of every window and door and add security to your home for a lot less than a full system. Just remember to change the batteries.

When it comes to home security alarms any alarm is better than none and whatever you can do to protect yourself and your family is a good investment. So see what you can afford and take the steps to protect your home and your family.
