Tight fitting pants, skirts and other apparel can press the stomach especially when sitting down. Other ways to stop heartburn from happening is to regulate intake of caffeine laden foods and drinks a well as foods rich in fats. These foods are almost always what cause heartburn for those who are sensitive to them. Many think that acidic foods can also be avoided to stop heartburn from occurring.
