How Does The Nintendo Wii Gun Work

The Nintendo Wii is an inventive game that allows for the player to really become part of the action. One of the reasons that this gaming console is so very interactive is its ability to use information from the controllers that a player is using to transmit information to the game in regards to where a player is moving. This then appears in the game as making the character jump, throw a ball or even shoot something.

The Wii has several different types of controllers in order to play the games and create this activity within the game. There is the classic controller, the nunchuks and the Nintendo Wii gun is also available.

The controller is designed like other controllers and allows for some movement within the game while the nunchuk is a long controller that allows for specific movements in the games such as using it as a golf club or baseball bat.

The Nintendo Wii gun is designed like other arcade type guns and uses that technology to work with the Nintendo Wii gaming system.

How The Nintendo Wii Gun Works

As with other arcade type guns, the Nintendo Wii gun works with a device inside of it called a photodiode. This is a light sensing device that is getting signals from the television screen. There is also a trigger switch within the Nintendo Wii gun that works with the photodiode to send signals back to the Nintendo Wii gaming console to sense where on the television screen that the Nintendo Wii gun is pointing. These signals are interacting with the signals from the television that work together to control the vertical and horizontal picture that is displayed.

Once the trigger is pulled the gaming console paints the screen white, this tells the Nintendo Wii gun that a target has been shot at and the Nintendo Wii gun then waits for the signal coming back from the television to tell it if it was an accurate hit on a target.

All of this process takes just milliseconds to complete as information rapidly is exchanged between the gaming console, the television and the Nintendo Wii gun. This technology has been around for some time and can be seen at video arcade games as well as on other gaming console games.

Being able to use this type of technology helps to make the games seem more real and allows for the players to see how well they are doing in seconds making the games faster and more exciting for the player.
