Modern Nursery with Organic Baby Furniture

You must have heard about organic baby food, organic baby clothing and so on. However, how many have heard of organic baby furniture? What exactly is this type of furniture? Basically, as a parent you would like to give the best possible things to your baby. Most parents have shifted to buying organic baby products because they were sold on the idea that natural (read organic) products are safer and better for babies.

Flooring

Let us start from the flooring. Do not use synthetic wall to wall carpeting as this can capture mold and fungus with time and create a vicious circle of disease in the nursery. Use instead good quality hardwood floorings which are installed with an organic (non-toxic) sealant. This would ensure that when your baby would be big enough to sit down and play, you would not worry whether the carpet is clean or not or whether he/she are exposed to any chemical reactions from the synthetic material.

Paint

The next would be to consider the walls of the nursery - use any type of paint you like that does not release VOCs (volatile organic compounds) into the air. There is plenty of non-VOC paint available in the market, such as plant oils, beeswax products, crushed limestone, mineral pigments and so on. Choose one that gives you the best choice for your color and texture.

Furniture

Now we can consider the furniture -organic baby furniture would be one which does not contain formaldehyde in the binding glues used for their component plywood. Avoid for this reason, all the newly made particle board furniture or that made of MDF (medium density fiber board).

If you must buy this type - for cost factors - buy only those which can convince you to be at least two-three years old from the date of manufacturing. This would ensure that all the harmful elements would have been dissipated into the air before use. The best choice would otherwise be organic baby furniture made out solid wood - such as rattan or wicker.

Another factor you should consider when you plan buying organic baby furniture is that most of the wood would be treated chemically against termites and other such harmful bugs. Check carefully before you buy your organic baby furniture and make double sure that all the harmful gases from such treatments have been released.

Bedding

The finishing touches in the organic nursery would be with the organic mattress and all organic cotton bed sheets and curtains. In this manner everything the baby touches would be natural and beneficial and you would have done your best.
