The Ingredients NOT Included in Organic Skin Care Products
There are many influences of the organic revolution these days. It all started with organic food and spread to anything organic from organic beddings to organic skin care products. The benefits that one gets from organic skin care products are numerous. These mainly concern a person's health and well being.
Many skin care products today have organic ingredients as well as are made in an organic way. When one says organic, that means that the ingredients in the products are naturally grown, processed naturally and the product itself undergoes a natural process of manufacturing.
What to Avoid In Skin Care Products.
Sodium lauryl sulphate is a detergent ingredient that is often used to make lather or bubbles in many skin care products. If the product has this ingredient, then it is not an organic skin care product.
Propylene glycol is an agent that is used to carry moisture. It can be derived from petroleum and also from vegetable glycerin. In most cases, it is derived from petroleum which makes it unhealthy for our skin. Some organic skin care products indicate where the propylene glycol it contains is derived from.
Paraffin is also extracted from petroleum. This can be dangerous in large doses and it is often used in eyebrow pencils, cold creams and other popular cosmetics. Organic skin care products should not include this ingredient. Paraffin is also used in candles and can be lethal when the paraffin candle is used in a not so well ventilated room.
Isopropyl alcohol is also derived from petroleum and is sometimes an ingredient in antifreeze. This alcohol is used for cleansing purposes and other anti-bacterial uses. This can cause dry skin and may be dangerous when inhaled by infants or children. It is not recommended to use isopropyl alcohol in organic skin care products.
Formaldehyde is another ingredient that should not be present in organic skin care products. It is commonly used in nail polish and nail hardeners but can also be used for other cosmetics. Many people are allergic to this or will have skin reactions to the ingredient.
Some fragrances are derived from chemical sources and these are still used for organic skin care products. This is because there is a loophole in the regulations of organic products that do not include or specify fragrances to be made only from essential oils and fragrances.
There are many other preservatives that are dangerous for our health. Avoid any skin care products that have the ingredients listed above since these do not promote good health. The side effects of some dangerous ingredients may not, manifest themselves until it is too late.
