Crystal Mountain Ski Resort In Washington State

Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is a great skiing destination if you're going to be spending some time in Washington state. This mountain is considered to be among the top ten in the country, and certainly, the best in Washington. It offers a variety of slopes to suit any level of experience.

The Mountain

Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is located on a mountain that has a top elevation of 7,000 ft. and a vertical drop of 3,100 ft. It has around 50 runs and some state of the art lift equipment. The ten lifts include 2 six passenger lifts, 2 high speed quads, 2 triple chairs, 3 double chairs and one children's lift. There are beginners slopes for the novice, but the majority of the runs are suited for intermediate to advanced skiers. The mountain gets good snowfall from mid-November to mid-April. This mountain is not as well known as some of the resorts in Colorado or Utah, but it offers skiing that is at least as good.

Unfortunately, many people outside of Washington do not even know about Crystal Mountain Ski Resort. Although, the skiing is great, there isn't much other than that to attract tourists from around the country. Many of the more popular resorts around the country have fancy lodging accommodations and restaurants, as well as spas, gift shops and boutiques. You won't find these things at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort. There are places to stay nearby, but they only provide the basics. It's more of a day skiing area than a place to plan a vacation. If you're already going to be in the area, you and your family can spend a great day enjoying some of the best skiing around.

Another thing that could have contributed to Crystal Mountain Ski Resort not growing at the rate of some of the larger resorts around the country is the weather. The snow on the mountain sometimes has a high water content. Sometimes a good heavy snow will be followed by a soaking rain making for a slushy mess on the slopes. Usually, though, the conditions are pretty good. If you're looking for some challenging back country skiing, the conditions will only add to your experience.

The slopes of Crystal Mountain Ski Resort will take you through some of the most breathtaking wilderness in the Pacific Northwest. Again, this mountain is better suited for intermediate to advanced skiers who are looking to spend a day skiing. If you're looking for an extended family ski vacation, you'll probably want to look elsewhere.
