One Of Colorado's Oldest
Monarch Mountain, established in 1939, is one of Colorado's oldest ski areas. This south central Colorado resort has 63 trails, a longest run of one mile long, and 800 skiable acres. Monarch's 350-inch all natural powder snowfall makes it one of Colorado's favorite winter playgrounds. Monarch Ski Resort has an uphill capacity of 6,100 skiers per hour.
Mirkwood Basin
Monarch Ski Resort's newest feature is Mirkwood Basin, a 15-minute walk (on a cat track) from the Breezeway lift. Mirkwood Basin offers 130 acres of expert chutes, glades, and tree skiing.
Snowcat Tours
Monarch Ski Resort offers snowcat tours for up to 12 guests a day. Each snowat tour averages about 10 to 12 runs per day at 900 vertical feet per run. Monarch Ski Resort's snowcat tours are for expert skiers only, as the trails are steep with advanced conditions.
Terrain Parks
Monarch Ski Resorts has three terrain parks, Richochet, Aftershock, and Slo Motion. Ricochet has two rollers, four tabletop jumps. One long spine, one double barrel rainbow, a roller coaster box, an "S" box, and a quarter pipe wall with a six foot jib rail. Dude!
Aftershock is for intermediate to advanced riders, and Slo Motion is full of beginner to intermediate features.
No Need To Miss Church
You can even go to church at Monarch Ski Resort. Services are held at one o'clock every Sunday afternoon at the top of the Tumbelina Lift. This special non-denominational service on spectacular Monarch Mountain will make you feel as close to God as you've ever felt in any church.
Lessons and Clinics
Monarch Ski Resort teaches a variety of lessons for all ages. Kids can start working on their skiing as early as seven years of age. After completing basic skills classes, kids can develop their competitive spirits with racing and freeride classes. Several adult specialty programs are available for the over-18 crowd.
