Don't Be Afraid Of A Home Remedy For Colon Cleansing
Colon cleansing needn't be a dramatic affair producing picture-worthy poo. If your goal is to have a healthy colon - especially if you have trouble with constipation and painful gas - then a home remedy for colon cleansing may just be all of the cleansing you safely need. If you have painful constipation or any other intestinal problem that does not resolve itself with over the counter remedies for more than two weeks, you really need to go see your doctor. Sometimes prescription medications can cause painful constipation. Talk to your doctor about that. This home remedy for colon cleansing is not meant to replace a doctor's advice.
Fiber, Fiber and Fiber
Guess what the home remedy for colon cleansing consists of? That's right - fiber. Not only does fiber get the digestive system moving, it also helps give you that "full" feeling so hopefully you won't overeat so much. The average adult is recommended to get 25-30 grams of fiber daily. We usually get this fiber through our diets, but if you haven't been eating so healthily lately, or know that you are going to be too busy to cook and eat properly (say, with a big project or exams coming up), then you can still get your fiber by taking fiber powders or capsules.
The first part of the home remedy for colon cleansing is taking a fiber powder or pill supplement. There is even tasty fiber filled herbal teas on the market. And fiber cereals have gotten tastier over the years. You don't need to eat fiber cereals AND have a fiber supplement. Usually one or the other is okay. If you do take a fiber pill or powder, be sure to take it with a full glass of water.
Water, Water and Water
The second part of the home remedy for colon cleansing is to drink six to eight glasses of water or clear healthy fluids per day. Coffee, alcohol and caffeinated soft drinks do not count. They can dehydrate you and cause constipation. Water, fruit juices, herbal teas and green teas are a great and tasty way to get the fluids you need to keep you moving. Yes, you will have to go to the bathroom more often, but that's sort of the point.
Regular Exercise
The last part of the home remedy for colon cleansing is to exercise regularly. This can be walking the dog a half hour a day, swimming, yoga routines or whatever you prefer. Walking to the store and back instead of driving (if it's less than a mile away) is also a healthy option. With the water and the fiber, you should feel more energetic.
