Magic Trick Exposed

Not all magicians appreciated having their trade secrets exposed for the whole world to see. They did not however, have a chance at doing anything, and the public at the time lapped it up. With each new magic trick exposed, more and more people became interested in the ins and outs of how the tricks were done.

As a consequence, more and more people also became interested in magic, learning magic as well as watching magic. And despite the big commotion that some amateur magicians created complaining that their performances were being undermined by such shows, and that magic secrets should be kept just that, secret, the more well known magicians if you had but noticed, didn’t really go beyond more than a token protest.

This was for a dual reason, with the first reason being that more and more people did come to be interested in magic as a consequence of these shows which took many a magic trick exposed it, and then left it for the masses to dissect.

The second reason was, that many a magic trick exposed on these shows had already been exposed by other magicians, notably among this list of magicians, being Harry Houdini. That’s right, Houdini also took many a magic trick exposed it and went on to bigger and better things.

And he also did it for the main reason of luring more and more people to watch his shows. Because the method of working the tricks were exposed to the public in all its glory, more people showed up to detect these illusions, than otherwise might have. They wanted to expose the magician for themselves, armed with the very knowledge that he gave them!

The key to surviving having a magic trick exposed is to keep turning in better than normal performances. People expect and know that you are using machines and tools to work your magic tricks. The entire thing works when they can’t figure out or see, how you managed to pull off the magic trick, while they were watching you eagle-eyed!

This naturally enough leaves them impressed with your skill, and will give them a greater respect for you and what you do. It is only when the audience can detect how your tricks are done that you will get bad reviews – naturally.

So keep in mind that no matter if a magic trick was exposed or not, it can still be pulled off with great results if the magician is confident in his abilities and can entertain his audience at the same time.

Remember this, because you can be sure that the list of magicians who will have a magic trick exposed, will only get longer. It is the nature of things, and one that you can successfully overcome if only you know how.
