All About Performing a Marriage Ceremony
There is a lot to know when it comes to performing a marriage ceremony because not everyone is able to do it. Usually, every state in the United States allows a member of clergy to perform marriages such as a Rabbi, a Minister, a Priest, a Pastor, and Cantor, and an Imam.
This also would include justices, judges, and court clerks to join the ranks of those who can go about performing a marriage ceremony. It is important to keep tabs on who can and who cannot be apart of performing a marriage ceremony because there are certain laws that must be adhered to at all times.
Now while most states limit those who can be involved in performing a marriage ceremony to those just mentioned, there are states like the state of California who gives a little more freedom in this area. California law allows just about anyone to become what is called a Deputy Commissioner of Marriages through an application. This authority though is only good for one day and one day only so it is rarely ever used. When it is though, is generally for the weddings of friends or family and there was a mix up and no one is available to marry them.
Parts of the Ceremony
If you are going to begin thinking about performing a wedding ceremony, it is a good idea that you study up on what all is involved during the big event. In the traditional weddings there is the procession, which is where everyone involved walks down the aisle in a certain order.
Then there is the prayers, worship, or reading which can be of religious nature or not and that all is completely up to the couple. Then of course, let's not forget the exchanging of the vows. This is the part where the couple exchanges their vows and declares their commitment to each other. A lot of people today like to write their own vows for this occasion.
Also, when performing a wedding ceremony, you need to remember that there are still many more parts to go. There is the exchanging of rings, which is a tradition because it shows the union between two people. There is the biggest part of the one performing a wedding ceremony and that is the pronouncement, which is announcing the couple as husband and wife to everyone. Then of course, the recession where everyone in the wedding walks out in reverse order of how they came in.
