Splurging on a good photographer, for instance, is a good example of where you can get your dollar's worth as good pictures can last not only for the duration of your life but be passed on for generations. You can choose to have a professional photographer for the duration of the ceremony or save some money by just having him or her take portraits of you and your better half before the reception when you are looking your freshest and have the time to sit and pose for him.
Discuss the style of photography that you like beforehand so that the photographer knows if he is required to bring any props or get any special effect equipment. That way you can be assured of a good digital format that can be enjoyed for many years as most people do not use VHS any longer.
