Musical Organizations of La Mirada Performing Arts Center

La Mirada Performing Arts Center is one of the entertainment sites known in the city of La Mirada, California. The performing arts center is a landmark to the city which is part of the Los Angeles County.

Reopened on September 16, 1977, La Mirada Performing Arts Center is recognized for having one of the best Broadway-style settings in Southern California. It is a state-of-the-art entertainment site of the Californian city, a recognition it holds since 1977. It was transformed from an outdated movie theater into a palace of artists and theater audience. The exceptional setting and the high technical standard of the center's theatre is attributed to each city council of La Mirada which is responsible for the continued operation and maintenance of the technical standards of the theatre.

Various performances have been staged in the theater of La Mirada Performing Arts Center. Some of the shows produced in the performing arts center have been on national tours. The Center is the creative home-base of one of the United States' leading theatrical production companies, McCoy Rigby Entertainment. Several award-winning musicals, plays and concerts produced by Tom McCoy and actress-gymnast Cathy Rigby have been featured on the beautiful theatre. La Mirada Theatre is the launching pad of Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan, an award-winning musical that stars Cathy Rigby.

La Mirada Performing Arts Center also features the programs of La Mirada Symphony, Phantom Projects and Programs for Young Audience.

Programs for Young Audiences is part of the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Established in 1977, the program brings family-oriented live entertainment to families and children.

La Mirada Performing Arts Center also holds shows that are aimed for teens. The Phantom Projects Educational Theatre Group produces shows that target the teen audience. The shows that have been created by the theatre group include The Miracle Worker, The Crucible, Our Town and the Diary of Anne Frank. Other presentations made by the theatre group have had themes that deal with teen issues such as violence, racism and drugs.

The La Mirada Symphony Orchestra has been performing in La Mirada Performing Arts Center for several decades. Headed by David Stenske as the new musical director and conductor, La Mirada Symphony is sponsored by the La Mirada City Council.

La Mirada Performing Arts Center also houses several shows aside from the presentations produced by the musical organizations. It is available for various rental events such as professional workshops, lectures, television and video taping and conferences.
