Defining Stress Causes

There are many elements of life that can cause stress such as a job, unhappy marriage, debt, or a family tragedy such as death. Understanding the stress causes can help you take control of the situation and get your life back in order.

Sometimes we feel threatened. This does not have to mean our life is threatened; it may mean that we feel like we are not in control of our finances and we fear that we will lose our financial standing in the community. This could also lead to a loss of our social standing in the community. These stress causes can take a severe toll on our everyday lives. Learning to identify stress causes can often help you avoid the causes, or at least you can prepare yourself to deal with them.

Being Aware Of The Usual Stress Causes

The death of a family member or friend is usually a very stressful event. That event is made worse if the death is tragic or unexpected. The same can be said for somebody going through a divorce. In many ways that divorce seems like a death to them because it is a drastic change in their life.

An unexpected pregnancy can be a stressful event, especially if your funds are limited. Many people find this difficult to deal with because of finances and housing space. Also, an unexpected pregnancy later in life could cause severe depression.

Ailing health of a family member, or even yourself, can be one of the major stress causes. The rise in medical expenses and the time lost from work can cause many families to get into a financial bind. Also, time spent taking care of a sick family member can be very stressful. There can also be the worry about the future if that family member has a terminal illness.

Moving to a new area can be stressful, especially if the entire family is put into a new situation. The kids may have to adjust to a new school and new friends while you have to adjust to a new job. Trying to help the kids, adjust while you are also dealing with your own adjustment, can mean a high stress situation.

Probably everyone would say that the top of the list of stress causes would be a job. Often employers cannot afford to hire all of the staff needed to do the work and more responsibility falls on your shoulders. This often happens when you already feel that you have too much to do. Or perhaps you got a promotion and you have added responsibility.

All of these things can cause stress in your lives. The key is to be forewarned and prepare yourself for the challenges you are facing. When you know you are going to be facing a stressful situation, take steps to minimize the impact it will have on your life.
