Training shoes

The day comes when you decide you want to get fit and maybe have in mind being able to complete a marathon. You may not want to run a marathon but it is possible with training to complete a marathon.

Footwear is of the utmost importance when you exercise. Don't consider getting an old pair of trainers out of the closet until you know they are still suitable for the task ahead. If you go into a sport's shop you will see various types of trainers but any good shop will be able to answer all your questions, if they are not able to then leave and find another shop.

One of the best types of trainers would be a cross-trainer. These have been designed for walking; running and working out at the gym. You need to make sure they are comfortable and there is no part of the trainer that is rubbing your foot. Never buy a trainer thinking they will stretch. They might but don't guarantee it and there will be nothing worse than paid a lot of money to find that after walking 3 or 4 miles you have blisters the size of saucers.

You need to make sure you wear your trainers in before embarking on a decent length walk. Maybe you could consider wearing them at the mall to see how well they respond to your feet.

I am sure you know that people get blisters when their shoes or trainers rub, but what else causes blisters. The other problem is the socks people wear with their trainers. Many people will always buy sports socks but the many of the sports socks around are made of cotton. These are the worse socks you can wear. Yes they protect your foot in the double thickness but when you foot sweats then the socks hold the water and that makes the trainer rub on the sweat. Sweat causes blisters. There are now trainer socks which are made of a quick dry material which reduces or eliminates blistering.

Finally make sure you buy the trainers suited to your feet, not the ones that seem to be the most fashionable. Some of the best known trainers are not designed for the narrow foot. If that is you, then avoid them otherwise you will have problems with your feet. Check where the heel back and Achilles tabs come on your foot, because you do not want to put an extra pressure on your Achilles tendon. Also make sure there is a good shock absorbent inner sole which will lessen the impact when using your trainer. Take care and your trainer will protect your feet from the harsh treatment it could get while you are training.
