It's time to learn how to stop procrastination. Procrastination can be a silent killer to your job, your family life, and friendships. When you procrastinate you don't get things done when you say you will, you stress yourself and others out, and you waste valuable time out of your life.

Get Organized

The first step to stopping procrastination is to get organized. Everyday when you get up, make a list of everything you have to do that day. Put them in the order they need to be done by their priority. If you have a work report that has to be done by lunch, that will go on your list before bathing the cat or trimming your toenails. As the day goes on, mark off the things on your list. Don't skip around on the list. Make yourself do them in the order that you wrote them down. If the next thing on your list makes you really want to procrastinate, just remember, this too shall pass.

Get Motivators

Some people just can't seem to get anything done without outside motivators. Give your friends, family, and co-workers full approval to nag, bother, and harass you until you get projects done. If that doesn't work try placing bets. Bet your co-worker lunch that you will get the task done on time. Bet your spouse a backrub that you will take out the trash before the trash truck gets to your house. Bet your kids one hour of video games that you will be able to get their bike put together before the end of the day. The drive to win will force you into action and will slowly teach your mind how to stop procrastinating.

Trick Yourself

Sometimes the need to procrastinate is so strong that you just need to trick yourself into wanting to do the task to learn how to stop procrastinating. Start by thinking of something you really hate to do that needs to be done, but is not more important than the task you would rather do. Next, try to force yourself to go do the more dreaded task. Completing the dreaded task first will make any subsequent tasks seem like a breeze.
