How to Replace Chainsaw Parts

If you ever experience problems with your chainsaw and need to replace chainsaw parts, one of the best resources you will have available to you is your chainsaw repair manual. This manual will offer you all the information that you are going to need to know, including what is wrong with your chainsaw and what parts will need to be replaced.

Keep in mind that you may have to purchase an additional manual depending on how serious the repair problem is and how knowledgeable you are on these tools and chainsaw parts, and if you do not feel able to take on the task yourself there are many professionals out there who - for a price of course - will be able to do the work for you.

Getting Started

If you find that your chainsaw is not working properly and think you may need some chainsaw parts, there are a few steps you are going to need to take, the first being to give the chainsaw a once over and find out what is actually wrong with it. To get a good look at the saw you are going to need to remove the two nuts that hold the sprocket cover on, which you will find on the left side of the motor.

Pull this off, and now you will be able to properly align the bar and chain. Look for any rust or breaks in the chain, and you may need to de-tension the chain in order to get it to fit properly on the bar and the sprockets. Put the side back on leaving it a bit loose, and then you want to check the chain tension. You should be able to see the bottom of the chain guides as you pull the chain away from the bar, and remember that if you see a whole line of them you are going to have to tighten the tension, whereas if you find that it is too tight you are going to need to loosen it a bit or it may end up snapping when you go to use the chainsaw.

Buying Parts

There are some fantastic companies that offer chainsaw parts you can purchase, and make sure that you stick to one who also has a knowledgeable and well trained staff who will be able to help you look for chainsaw parts and ensure that you are getting just what you need. This way you will not be spending more money that you need and will be able to fix your chainsaw.
