Stress Scale: How Much Is Too Much?
Although some types of stress can be quite beneficial to the body, most types of stress are really harmful to you. If you are one of those people who have to deal with stress constantly, you should take care not to tip the stress scale too much. Tipping the stress scale too much is a bad thing. According to studies, people who are too stressed out are more likely to suffer from serious types of illnesses compared to those people who did not really tip the stress scale much.
When can you say that you are tipping the stress scale too much? People have different stress tolerance levels so you must first look into your own capacity of handling stress. Common symptoms of too much stress may include impatience or edginess, exhaustion, inability to get some sleep, lack of enthusiasm, fuzzy feeling and lack of enjoyment in life. If you have been feeling any or all of these symptoms, it would be best for you to start doing some stress management exercises.
Taking Care of Yourself
If you have been tipping the stress scale significantly and you are feeling quite frustrated about it, do not start taking medicates at once. No, popping pills into your mouth is not the answer to your problems. Yes, pills will help you feel better for a while but once you get off your medication, there is a big possibility that your level of stress will shot up like a rocket again. Besides, pills have many ugly side effects on the body so as much as possible; handle your stress without resorting to drugs. You can just turn to these drugs when everything else fails.
To help manage your stress and avoid tipping the stress scale too much, you need to change your lifestyle. If you have been leading a really fast paced life, slow down a little bit. Give yourself a breathing space. If you can afford it, take a vacation somewhere peaceful, quite and far away from the busy life of the city. While you are on vacation, turn off your cell phone and stop checking your emails every hour.
Aside from changing your lifestyle, you need to let go of your emotional baggage. If you are one of those people who have been through some really emotional times, learn to let go of the past. Remembering all those awful things that has happened to you in the past will not really do you any good. Learn to forgive yourself and the people who have done you wrong.
